7th Annual Strategic Intranet and Enterprise Portal Management Conference in Auckland
](https://www.brightstar.co.nz/nz/7th-annual-strategic-intranet-and-enterprise-portal-management-2.html) I will be attending and presenting a session and case study on MOSS at the “7th Annual Strategic Intranet and Enterprise Portal Management Conference” in Auckland New Zealand on 28th and 29th of August.
The session is on the deployment of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 at the New Zealand Ministry of Transport.
Session details are as follows.
Case Study: The NZ Government Embraces SharePoint 2007
With the recent release of the new Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) platform, many Public Sector organisations are now considering deploying MOSS technologies as the foundation for their Intranet. This session looks at New Zealand’s first ever Intranet deployment using MOSS technologies. Following the project from design through to deployment, the presenters will talk about their approach to solving the Ministry of Transport’s business challenges, how MOSS functionality successfully met the project needs and some of the pitfalls associated with deploying on a brand new technology platform.
• MOSS, The Ministry of Transport and the Intranet Challenge • One approach to designing, customising and configuring MOSS for Intranets • Seamless integration with the existing technology environment at the Ministry • What was learnt about MOSS along the way… • Case Study: MOSS and the Ministry of Transport’s Intranet (aka “Discover”)
Murray Wills, Manager Information and Technology (Acting), MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT Chandima Kulathilake, Solution Architect & Microsoft SharePoint MVP, PROVOKE SOLUTIONS LTD
A previous post on my blog highlights the approach we took in implementing the MOT intranet “Discover” with MOSS.
If you are attending another great session (just before mine actually) that I would recommend is:
MOSS Enterprise Portals – Are they the Answer for your Intranet?
Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 and Other Collaborative Tools – the Future of Intranets? This session will look at Microsoft SharePoint from a vendor neutral analyst’s perspective, looking at its strengths and weaknesses and the stages needed for an organisation to implement SharePoint as a collaboration and portal/intranet solution. • Ensuring you link SharePoint to business goals • Getting the implementation right technically • Creating competence throughout the organisation in using the solution • Avoiding pitfalls • Creating a culture of collaboration within the organisation Michael Sampson, Principal Advisor, COLLABORATION SUCCESS ADVISORS
I will post updates and my slides after the event.
