Doing a new MOSS or WSS Install?

CommunityMicrosoftSharePointTechnology

If you are you should be now using the slipstreamed MOSS SP1 and WSS V3.0 SP1 installers available for download.

Why should you care about SP1? Well let me tell you that it has all the required hot fixes and most importantly improved performance benefits. I also recently posted on how to check to see what version you are running in your deployment.

Another post that I would also like to highlight is how to use the Capacity Planning tool for SharePoint.

You can get the new updates installers for MOSS + SP1 and WSS + SP1 from the links below.

MOSS 2007 with SP1

Office SharePoint Server 2007 with SP1 (32 bit)

Office SharePoint Server 2007 with SP1 (64 bit)

Make sure that you only install the binaries “OfficeServerwithSp1.exe” for fresh NEW installs. For existing MOSS deployments you should apply SP1 as mentioned in my previous post.

WSS 3.0 with SP1

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 x64 with Service Pack 1

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 with Service Pack 1

If you are planning to deploy MOSS/WSS with Windows Server 2008 you will need this latest SP1 version of the Installer.
