Mix06 Las Vegas Reporting Live!

Finding the venue room proved to be a tricky one. The Venetian is huge and unless you plan your way you will get lost (well if you’d not been here that is). Ended up following this dude who was lost and we both ended up lost. Finally got hold of a security/usher and got our bearings right.

Attended the Keynote from Bill Gates and saw some really cool stuff. Windows Presentation Foundation.. way cool! In general AJAX > “ATLAS“ IIS7, InfoCard and WPF will be pretty important for developing next gen user interfaces and experiences for end users.

A guy from MySpace presented about the successes they’ve had with ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005.  They have about 65 million registered users now, and a huge number of page views.  Apparently with going to SQL 2005 and ASP 2.0, they were able to reduce their web server farm from 243 to just 150 servers and improve response times.  Very cool. There is a detailed post from Scott Guthrie about mySpace.com on his blog. > http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/03/25/441074.aspx

IE 7 Beta 2 latest build is now available here > http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx. Really cool features so check it out.

Tim O’Reilley and Bill Gates one on one session was a highlight. Next am going to go to the Web 2.0 session. Just getting to grips that I am actually here.. :-)
